I’ve heard stories of people being nervous right before proposing, Wanted the proposal to be perfect so I played out every scenario I could think of and on Saturday December 19th 2015 I woke up feeling ready!!
I wanted this to be something she would love, in August we went for a Bruce Munro light in the garden event and she loved it so I figured the Botanical Garden Christmas light would create the needed atmosphere; I had it all planned out with Lissette and Sammy – all but getting the tickets to the event. We went online to purchase tickets but unfortunately they were sold out for the night... I didn’t see that coming... Sammy immediately came to the rescue with the Teppanyaki-style open-grill idea.
My weeks of planning an outdoor proposal just went down in flames so I was technically without a plan. Salama and her sister Victoria excused themselves to use the ladies right before dinner was served; I took advantage of her absence to place the ring on her plate and cover it with the napkin. Soup was served and my heart skipped a beat as she reached for the napkin, took her a few seconds to observe the ring but it felt like eternity to me. Her countenance lighted up when she saw the ring, I got on my knee and the next thing I remember happening were people clapping and cheering, I don’t know what I said but I’m positive I heard a YES! I still can’t understand how after months of practice I still attempted to put the ring on the wrong finger! I knew right there I made the greatest decision of my life.
December 19th 2015 was a beautiful cold day, we had planned on going to the Atlanta Botanical Garden with my sister victoria and a couple friend of ours Lissette and Sammy for the Christmas lighting event but unfortunately when Tobore got to the house and tried getting tickets, the event was sold out. I was actually pissed because I was looking forward to it; For a minute I actually started to think he was planning to propose or something like that because he was on the phone with Sammy and Lissette who were seriously trying to find a place for us to go and they kept asking “WHAT DOES SHE LIKE” and I asked Tobore why they were asking what I liked we are all going to hang out we should be looking for what everyone will like so I had my suspicion. Never the less we decided to go to a Japanese restaurant suggested by Sammy. I was all excited about getting engaged till we got to the restaurant and everyone was acting normal then i started to question my thoughts, I decided to forget about a proposal and have a nice dinner. I and my sister went to the ladies and when we returned soup was served. I picked up my napkin and something that had the resemblance of a ring was in the middle of my place...I was shocked and surprised, I stopped thinking at that moment and just kept laughing then my heart rob got on one knee. I can’t remember what he said lol neither do I remember saying yes I probably did with all the hugs before he even asked lol it was beautiful we had always known we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and that moment opened a new chapter in our lives. Love is a journey, Salama and Tobo.
